  • Introtext EN: The “Ice Dream” invites the whole family to ice-skate with its Crash Ice Channel, the children's area or curling.

Ice Skating - A Winter Fairy Tale on Ice

Ice skating has a long tradition in Davos. In the past, the natural ice rink in Davos was the largest in Europe, covering 18,000 square meters. Today, the "Eistraum" (Ice Dream), Switzerland's largest mobile artificial ice rink with 4,500 square meters of ice surface, has been captivating both locals and visitors since its opening in 2016.

The Eistraum at the Davos sports stadium invites young and old to linger. Whether it's leisurely ice skating, curling, hockey games, or acrobatics - everything is possible. The central ice hockey area is surrounded by an ice rink that meets the official dimensions of an ISU training track, making the Eistraum also attractive for speed skating. The track is reserved exclusively for speed skaters two hours before regular opening hours.

In addition, special events such as ice discos and ice skating courses for beginners and advanced skaters take place at the Eistraum. The enchanting lighting and festive music create a magical atmosphere that makes every visit a special experience. The surrounding cafes and snack stands offer warm drinks and snacks, allowing visitors to warm up and refresh themselves.

Ice Hockey - Passion and Tradition

Ice hockey, alongside football, is one of Switzerland's most popular sports, and in Davos, ice hockey is omnipresent. This is mainly thanks to the Hockey Club Davos (HCD), the Swiss record champion, which proudly wears Davos' blue and yellow colors in the country's hockey arenas. In winter, Davos becomes a mecca for ice hockey fans, especially during HCD's home games.

A winter highlight is the international Spengler Cup, held annually between Christmas and New Year in Davos. This prestigious tournament attracts hockey enthusiasts from around the world and creates an incomparable atmosphere in the city.

The best part: The stadium is only a few minutes' walk from the Hotel Dischma Davos. This allows you to experience the exciting games up close without having to travel far. After the game, a visit to the numerous restaurants and bars is ideal for rounding off the evening in a convivial atmosphere.

There are also plenty of opportunities for children and teenagers to try their hand at ice hockey. HCD offers youth training sessions and camps where young talents can improve their skills and live the dream of becoming professional ice hockey players.

Conclusion

Davos offers an unparalleled experience for both ice skating and ice hockey fans. The combination of tradition and modern facilities creates the perfect environment for all winter sports enthusiasts. Whether you're actively skating on the ice yourself or cheering on the exciting games of HCD, Davos is the perfect place for all ice sports enthusiasts

Davos Klosters is the birthplace of international tobogganing.

Davos Klosters is known as the birthplace of international tobogganing, and the region offers a variety of runs promising adventure and fun for both children and adults.

At Rinerhorn, an exciting toboggan run awaits with 33 curves and unique steep turns that provide thrills. The 3.5 km long track is located directly under the gondola lift and offers tobogganing fun for young and old. For those who want to extend their day, tobogganing is even possible until 11:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays.

On Schatzalp, on the other hand, tobogganing is a bit more leisurely and suitable for the whole family. The 2.8 km long toboggan run is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., and the illuminated curves ensure fun even after dark.

At Madrisa, families can experience an unforgettable tobogganing pleasure. The 8.5 km long toboggan run stretches from the Madrisabahn mountain station to Saas and offers fun for both young and old. Sleds can be conveniently rented at the mountain station, and the return transport to Klosters Dorf is by bus.

From the Gotschnaboden middle station, a fast toboggan run starts, which leads over 3.5 km to Klosters. The option to rent sleds is available directly at the starting point on Gotschnaboden, so you can start enjoying the fun right away.

At Pischa, you can exchange your sled for an airboard and surf over the snow. The airboard, an inflatable high-tech bodyboard for snow, offers easy control with its large surface area, allowing descents on groomed slopes as well as untouched deep snow.

Ski & Snowboard

  • Jahreszeit: Winter
  • Introtext EN: With around 300km of snow-covered slopes and 57 transport systems no winter sports enthusiast will be disappointed in Davos Klosters.

Davos Klosters is considered one of the most snow-sure ski regions in Switzerland. With a network of approximately 300 kilometers of slopes and 57 transport facilities, the ski areas of Parsenn, Gotschna, Jakobshorn, Pischa, as well as the two family-friendly mountains Madrisa and Rinerhorn, offer a wide range of skiing pleasure for all age groups.

Parsenn is often regarded as the birthplace of skiing in Switzerland. In 1895, four English tourists got lost on the Weissfluhjoch and eventually ended up in Küblis. This led to the discovery of the Parsenn descent and the creation of an Alpine myth. Since the opening of the funicular railway about 90 years ago, Parsenn has been a classic ski mountain with long descents on wide slopes and traditional mountain huts. The ski area with its approximately 97 kilometers of slopes is accessible from Davos with the Parsennbahn and from Klosters with the Gotschnabahn.

Jakobshorn is known as the center of the freestyle scene and still considered a hotspot for snowboarders and freeskiers. At an altitude of 2500 m, beginners to professionals showcase their skills in the JatzPark with its 20 elements such as kickers and rails. There are also freestyle offerings in the valley, including the Superpipe at Bolgen and a 15 x 15 meter airbag for beginners.

Davos Pischa is one of the largest and sunniest freeride areas in Switzerland. With the cable car, you can reach the mountain station, from where you can ride down into the valley on secured freeride descent routes. Ski tourers use the mountain station as a starting point for the popular ski tour to Pischahorn. But not only with skis or snowboards can you enjoy the powder here, but also with fat bikes or airboards.

There are few ski resorts that focus as much on families with young children as Madrisa. In the children's snow parks of Madrisa-Land and in the Madrisa Park Klosters, there are special practice areas. Four magic carpets transport the little skiers up. With a snowbike (available at Intersport at the mountain station), they can ride down the slopes while seated – ideal for beginners. While the children practice their first turns on four practice lifts, parents can explore the 31 kilometers of slopes in the ski area. With sufficient snow, the 8.5-kilometer-long toboggan run to Saas and the winter hiking trails to Mässplatte and Zügenhüttli are special highlights.

The Rinerhorn offers a toboggan run with 33 curves and rapid steep turns, winter sports opportunities at night, as well as a family-friendly ski area with ski lifts, free parking, and cozy mountain huts. It is not surprising that the Rinerhorn is not only popular with locals but also with guests as one of the insider tips in Davos Klosters.
